/---------------------------- Dragon Buster 2: Revive Guide ----------------------------/ By Ryo-Cokey (ryocokey@gmail.com) Last Updated: 9/22/04 ABOUT: ------ Dungeon Buster 2 is a 3 disk game for the PC-98 Platform. It is generally played with Disk A in the first drive and Disk B in the second. Disk C is used for cut scenes, and you will be rather obviously prompted for it when it is needed. The game is a sequel to the original Dungeon Buster on the PC-88 platform. That game featured the 5 main characters of this game as villains. Apparently, the evil sorceress you play last in this game was sealed away by 4 heroes, who are the 4 early bosses of this game. Some of the keys needed to play this game aren't mapped by default, so you need to go to the Keyboard tab of the Anex86 settings and map , . at the very least. The entire game is controlled by the keypad. GENERAL: -------- When you start the game, you are presented with 2 options, neither of which seem to do much. The main menu features three options which, from top to bottom are: View Intro Start New Game Continue Saved Game You can only have one save at a time. Starting a new game, you will be asked to chose among 4 girls, each based on one of the 4 elements. You must play through all 4 girls, so there's no real significance to which you chose first. Water has the simplest level and the easiest boss, so you might wish to chose her. Movement in the game is done with the keypad arrow keys. Combat is random, and the screen will go to combat when it happens. Generally combat is quite simple, as there is only one statistic: BioBits This is your life/power. If you have a higher (110%) number of biobits than your opponent, attack. You should be able to defeat them without much damage. You gain a fraction of their original BioBits when you win. Characters losing life will lose clothes, both your character and the enemy. Later on, you may encounter characters immune to physical attacks. Generally you should just run from them, however, the default magic attack (Hit magic, then magic again) will kill them if you are Wind or Fire (earth and water have less useful defaults.) At certain amounts of BioBits, your character will transform: Level 0, Chibi (Fully clothed, nude) 0 BioBits Level 1, Young Girl (Clothed, underwear and bra, nude) 500 BioBits Level 2, Teenager (Clothed, underwear and bra, nude) 1000 BioBits Level 3, Adult (Clothed, Torn, underwear and bra, nude) 2000 BioBits You gain spells at each level, although they aren't very significant to the game. Your character may be knocked down to her panties shortly after she transforms, but otherwise, you should simply load if you are injured that badly. Since there is no experience besides BioBits, fighting a battle and being badly wounded is pointless. NAVIGATING LEVELS: ------------------ You can walk on the blue bricks, and also through gateways of stone, etc. Also, you may be able to walk over the void in some areas. Test everything, often times parts of the void that you can walk over are marked by fire, etc. The first level for each girl is simple, just wander around until you find the exit box (canister with red X) and the exit terminal (Black window on a wall with a white X inside.) Go right up to the exit terminal and use the , item (The exit box) to exit the level. All enemies appear based on your characters BioBits, so there is no danger from advancing too quickly. The second levels vary by which girl you are playing, but are basically described here: Water: Very simple, straightforward level but long. Wind: Level full of torches that block you when you approach, blind maze type of puzzle. Earth: Level full of one-way doors, use save before crossing them. Fire: Long level full of identical rooms. When you come upon a canister like the kind your character spawned from, you'll have found the boss. Fight enemies to max out your BioBits (6000) before fighting them. If you fight them with full life, you should win by doing nothing but attacking. They all have around 5000-6000 BioBits except the Elf who fights Water, she has only 3500. Once the boss is beaten, pick up the Exit Box (Which should be in the area) and use it facing the exit terminal to finish that section. You'll be prompted to pick another girl, or go to the final level if you've completed all four. FINAL LEVEL: ------------ Once you've beat all 4 minibosses and played each girl (8 levels total) you will get the sorceress herself, and final level. The final level is full of powerful enemies, but just using the simple ratio of judging who to fight, you should be fine. The sorceress is already fully grown and has 4 states of dress, like the adult forms of the earlier girls. The final boss awaits you at the end of the rather straightforward level. Just make sure your health is maxed (70000 BioBits, I think) and you can defeat her with nothing but attacking. Then you've won the game, sit back and watch the cinematics.
